The Aim of Greenpower Greenpower is a challenge. Build and electric car, that runs on car batteries and see how far it can go in a massive 6 hour endurace race. Through these activities Greenpower effectively influences youngsters to consider engineering and technology fields for their careers and endeavours to fill in some of the huge void that currently exists in the public perception of engineering and its place in society today. Through the adherence to electricity as the means of propulsion Greenpower also is dedicated to showing how relevant this means of propulsion is to our future lives. |

| Formula 24
A carefully thought up specification is issued to secondary schools along with a 24 volt electric motor and a set of 4 12 volt lead/acid batteries. Cars are designed and built within the schools with the help of teachers, co-opted outside engineers, parents and sponsoring companies. They then compete in a number of Greenpower run marathon and sprint events throughout the country, using well known motor racing circuits. Formula 35 This formula is aimed primarily at those who are too old to enter Formula 24 (sixth forms and tertiary colleges), and want to continue endurance racing with more of a challenge. More stringent specifications and an uprated motor are part of the formula. Formula 35 races will be held both alongside Formula 24 races, and in their own events. Formula Catapult. Catapult caters for sixth forms, tertiary colleges, further education establishments and electric car enthusiasts. It replaces Formula Fracmo, and offers the opportunity to design and compete in electric 'dragster cars' with power coming from a 12V car starter motor of the entrants' choice. |
